Black and Gold

Just a reminder that the Black and Gold Hot Dog Roast will begin at 5 p.m. tomorrow, the 27th, and go until 6:30. 3rd and 4th grade games begin at 6:30 and the 5th and 6th grades will follow immediately.

Please remember a change of clothes as we will be collecting all the gear.

Black and Gold Tailgate Dinner

We have decided that we are going to do a Black and Gold Tailgate dinner instead of the usual end of season banquet. I'm still not sure I'll be able to pull it off gracefully, so if it doesn't work like I have in mind, please be patient and we'll do better next year. We will start at 5:00 p.m. and go until 6:30 at the Royal High School football field, behind the bleachers. That will hopefully give all teams and families enough time to eat before the games start. We will be having hot dogs, chips, drinks and dessert (not sure what that will be yet). And instead of having players bringing contributions for the meal, players will be able to eat for free and families will be $5. Just bring blankets or chairs, or you can sit in the bleachers to eat.

With the Black and Gold game being the end of our football year, we will be collecting all the football gear after the games on Thursday, so please remember a change of clothes for your player.

We so appreciate all the help that players, parents, and coaches have given this year to make our Grid Kids successful!

5/6 Make-up Game, Grid Kid, Black and Gold

The make-up game for 5/6 Black will be Saturday, October 22 at 10:30 in Othello. Grid Kid day was changed to the 29th, several coaches will be out of town as well as kids, so we have decided to opt out of the grid kid games for ALL teams.

The final game for all teams will be Black and Gold on Thursday October 27. 3/4 grade teams will play at 6:30 and the 5/6 grade teams will follow.

Tailgate Dinner, Maybe?

An idea was presented to do a tailgate dinner before the Black and Gold game on October 27th. I was just hoping to get some thoughts. Would everyone like to do it? Would we like to do it in lieu of the end of season banquet and just collect equipment after the game? Do we want to do both and then have families contribute money for the tailgate dinner? Just leave a comment with your thoughts and ideas and I'll decide from there!

Gold 5/6 Game Change for Saturday, October 8

The 5/6 GOLD game for Saturday, October 8 time has been moved up to play at 10 a.m. It will still be played at Taggeres Field in Othello.

Picture Day

Don't forget that tomorrow, September 29 is picture day for all teams. Players need to wear their jerseys and bring order forms and money if ordering pictures.

Pictures and More

Pictures for all the teams are scheduled for this Thursday, September 29. Players need to wear their game jersey, and have money and order forms if ordering pictures.

If players are ordering sweatshirts, please bring order form and money on Thursday as well.

All players should have received a grey Grid Kids t-shirt. If your player has not received his yet, please let one of the coaches know.

Please remember that practices will be Mondays and Thursdays from now on. We have coaches with sons that play for the Jr. High football team on Tuesdays, and they would like to watch the games.

OOPS!!

I posted this last night but for some reason the emails didn't go out. The Gold 5th and 6th grade game is NOT cancelled for Saturday the 24, just the 5th and 6th Black team is cancelled. GOLD 5th and 6th play at 10 a.m. Sorry for the confusion.

Black Team 5th and 6th Grade Game Cancelled, Practice Update

The Black 5th and 6th grade game for Saturday September 24 has been cancelled. We will let players know when the game is to be rescheduled.

The games for the 3rd and 4th will still be played at 9 a.m. Gold 5th and 6th will play at 10 a.m.

Practice

Due to scheduling conflicts practices for all teams will be held on MONDAYS and THURSDAYS starting Monday September 26. Thanks for understanding.

Just a Reminder

As just a reminder- all four teams will be playing in Othello on Saturday, September 24.  Both 3rd and 4th grade teams will be playing at 9 a.m. at Taggares Field.  The 5th and 6th grades will play immediately after, hopefully by 10 a.m. please have your player there early to ensure proper warm-up.

The Black and Gold game has been scheduled for October 27.  3rd and 4th grades will start their game at 6:30 p.m. (we have to wait till the high school is done using the field), the 5th and 6th grades will follow immediately after.

5th and 6th Grade Game Start Times

Due to schedule changes, both 5th and 6th Grade teams will start their games IMMEDIATELY following the 3rd and 4th games. We anticipate that the 5th/6th grade games should start approximately 11:00-11:15. Please have the players there no later than 10:45 to ensure that the games can start right away, but coaches may want them there earlier. We apologize for the MANY inconveniences this caused.

Friday Night High School Game

Just so parents are aware, if Grid Kid players will wear their jerseys to the games to all the home Royal High School Football games, the player will be admitted for free!

Now that games have began, we will be practicing on Tuesdays and Thursdays with games scheduled on Saturdays. Great Job last Saturday on everyone's first game!!!

Just as a reminder: there will be NO practice Friday, September 2 or Monday, September 5. There will be practice on the 6,7, and 8. Players will receive their game jerseys on Thursday. Schedules and rosters are posted under the team's pages. The first game is on Saturday September 10. The Royal Black teams will be playing here in Royal and the Royal Gold teams will be at Warden. The schedule is still needing a few changes, so when it is finalized we will hand it out to the players.

Gearing Up!!!!

As we get things rolling, we want to get the word out there that we will practice Monday through Thursday this week and probably the same next week to prepare for our first games on September 10th. Remember, it will be hot and water is not readily available at the elementary school so please send water bottles with your young football players. See you Monday!!!

SIGN UPS 2011

We are excited for another year of Grid Kids Football. We are playing in the Othello Grid Kids League, like we did last year. The games will be played at Royal, Mattawa, and Othello fields, schedules are still to be determined.

ROYAL GRID KIDS FOOTBALL VOLUNTEERS

All coaches and anyone that would like to volunteer or help in anyway, there will be a planning meeting to discuss ideas and issues for this upcoming season. We will be meeting at the Community Center (Golf Course Club House), on Wednesday, August 24 at 5 p.m. If you are interested in volunteering and would like more information please contact Brandon with the information at the right or leave a comment below.

REGISTRATION

We will be in the schools Friday, August 26th, to distribute registration forms to all 3rd through 6th grade classrooms. Please bring your registration forms to the first practice which will be Monday, August 29th, immediately following school on the east of Red Rock Elementary. Registration and Concussion forms are available to download through link on the right or by emailing Brandon Jenks at brandon.jenks@gmail.com. Player fees will need to be paid before first practice, fees will be $50 per player, and $25 for each additional immediate family member (not cousins). If necessary, payment arrangement can be made.
